Tuscany: More Than a Vacation… A Journey of Connection, Culture, and Discovery

What a wonderful trip we had to Italy! This itinerary was truly magical, and as always, the incredible women who joined us made the experience even more special.

Our journey through Tuscany was designed to create memories that simply cannot be found on a typical tour. We believe the best travel experiences happen when you step behind the scenes and connect with local people and authentic places.

One of our highlights was visiting three small, family-owned wineries where we were welcomed not as tourists, but as guests. At one winery, the owner happened to be the chef as well and prepared an unforgettable lunch paired with his exceptional wines.

We also enjoyed a private cooking class filled with laughter, delicious food, and wonderful company. And, of course, no trip to Tuscany would be complete without a truffle hunt! We met Italy’s top truffle dog—a true celebrity who has his own social media following and even appeared in a Netflix feature.

One of my personal themes for this trip became “The Doors and Dogs of Italy.” Everywhere we turned, there were charming old doors and friendly dogs, each with their own story and personality.
Perhaps one of the most meaningful experiences was visiting the home of a retired Italian railroad executive and his wife. They welcomed us warmly, shared cappuccinos and stories of their lives, even showing us their wedding album and treasured family memories. Their generosity and openness reminded us that travel is ultimately about human connection.

Giving back is also an important part of Women For Adventure. We had the opportunity to  present a donation to support their preservation efforts and celebrate the railroad’s 30th anniversary.
And then there was the food! We tasted handmade cheeses, sampled local specialties, enjoyed fresh vegetables and olives picked from the region, and indulged in bowls of fresh pasta and artisan gelato. Every meal seemed to tell its own story.

Of course, Tuscany’s breathtaking landscapes provided the perfect backdrop for our adventure. We walked through beautiful terrain that has inspired and appeared in films such as The Gladiator, The English Patient, and Quantum of Solace.

As I reflect on our time together, I realize we packed so much into just one week. Yet somehow, there was also space to simply be—to walk, hike, sit quietly, and absorb the beauty around us. Those moments of stillness often become the ones we remember most because they offer perspective, gratitude, and personal growth.

Italy gave us so much more than a vacation. It gave us memories, friendships, inspiration, and a deeper appreciation for slowing down and savoring life’s simple pleasures.
And if someone asked me if I would do this trip again?

In a heartbeat. 🇮🇹❤️
