Walk the Camino de Santiago — The Women for Adventure Way
September 18–26, 2027 | 9 Days / 8 Nights | 7 Days of Walking
Sarria to Santiago de Compostela, Spain
The Camino — at a pace that lets you enjoy it!
Have you dreamed of walking the Camino de Santiago but wondered if the traditional long walking days might be a little too much? This trip was designed for you.
Welcome to our Snail Trail Camino — a more relaxed way to experience one of the world’s great walking journeys. We’ll follow the legendary Camino Francés through the rolling green countryside of Galicia, with shorter walking days, comfortable accommodations, luggage transfers, a private English-speaking Camino guide and, best of all, a dedicated support van and driver throughout the journey.
This isn’t a race. We want time to stop for a café con leche, take photos, talk with fellow pilgrims, wander through tiny villages, taste local specialties and enjoy the friendships that develop along the trail.
You carry only what you need for the day. We take care of the rest.
Walk. Laugh. Explore. Eat well. Meet pilgrims from around the world. And experience that unforgettable moment when the towers of Santiago Cathedral finally come into view.
Buen Camino!
Trip Itinerary
Day DAY 1 – ARRIVAL IN LUGO
ARRIVAL IN LUGO
Welcome to Spain — Our Camino Adventure Begins!
Welcome to Lugo, the starting point for our Women for Adventure Camino journey!
Today is an arrival day, so settle into your hotel, relax after your travels and enjoy some free time to explore this fascinating Galician city on your own. Lugo is famous for its beautifully preserved ancient Roman walls, which completely encircle the historic Old Town. Take a walk along the top of the walls, wander the charming pedestrian streets, stop at a café or simply soak up your first taste of northern Spain.
This evening, we’ll come together for our Welcome Dinner — your chance to meet your fellow travelers, get acquainted with the women you’ll be sharing the Camino with and toast to the adventure ahead.
Get a good night’s sleep and rest those feet. Tomorrow, we become pilgrims!

And We’re Off! Our Camino Begins
After breakfast, we’ll meet our private Camino guide and travel together from Lugo to the Sarria area, where our walking adventure officially begins.
There is something special about those first steps on the Camino. Almost immediately, we’ll find ourselves walking along country lanes and wooded trails, past stone farmhouses, tiny chapels and villages that have welcomed pilgrims for centuries.
Along the way, we’ll begin collecting Camino stamps — sellos — in our Pilgrim Credentials, creating a wonderful record of our journey.
Our destination is Portomarín, a picturesque town overlooking the Belesar Reservoir and one of the best-known stops along the Camino Francés.
And remember: our support van is never far away. If you’ve had enough walking for the day, there is absolutely no prize for suffering!

PORTOMARÍN → AIREXE
Today we leave Portomarín and climb gradually through beautiful Galician woodland and countryside toward the Sierra de Ligonde.
This is the Galicia many people imagine when they dream about the Camino — rolling green hills, stone walls, farmland and tiny villages tucked into the landscape.
We pass places that have welcomed pilgrims for hundreds of years, including remnants of old pilgrim hospitals and churches that remind us just how long travelers have been following this route toward Santiago.Green Hills, Country Roads & Camino Villages
At Airexe, we’ll meet our transportation and transfer to our comfortable hotel for dinner, conversation and a well-earned night’s sleep.

Forest Trails & Medieval Galicia
After breakfast, our Camino continues through Palas de Rei and into some of the prettiest countryside of the journey.
We’ll wind our way through small villages, quiet woodland paths and river valleys, including San Xulián do Camiño with its historic church and classic Galician stone architecture.
One of the pleasures of our Snail Trail itinerary is having time to actually notice where we are. Stop for a photograph. Chat with another pilgrim. Grab a coffee. Listen to the church bells. This is your Camino.
At the end of our walk, we’ll transfer to our hotel for another relaxing evening together.

Medieval Bridges, Melide & a Taste of Galicia
Today’s walk combines history, beautiful countryside and some of Galicia’s most famous food traditions.
We’ll pass through charming villages such as Leboreiro and Furelos, crossing historic stone bridges before arriving in Melide, one of the Camino’s best-known towns.
For the adventurous eaters in our group, this is the place to try pulpo a la gallega — Galicia’s famous octopus dish traditionally prepared with olive oil, salt and paprika.
From Melide, we continue through forests, farms and small villages toward Arzúa, an area famous for its wonderfully creamy local cheese.
Today is about more than miles — it is about experiencing Galicia through its people, villages and flavors.

Into the Eucalyptus Forests
By now, the rhythm of the Camino has begun to feel wonderfully familiar: wake up, lace up your shoes, enjoy breakfast and simply start walking.
Today’s trail winds through small hamlets, farmland and fragrant eucalyptus forests bordered by moss-covered stone walls.
Names such as Rúa, Calzada and Calle reflect the roads and pathways that have carried pilgrims toward Santiago for centuries.
As we walk, you’ll probably notice something else: the conversations become longer, the group becomes closer and life off the Camino begins to feel very far away.
Our walk ends at Alto de Santa Irene, where we’ll meet our transportation and head to our hotel.

Santiago Is Getting Close!
Excitement begins to build today as we continue west toward Santiago.
We descend through eucalyptus forests and peaceful villages including Rúa and Amenal before tackling one of our final climbs.
Eventually we arrive at Lavacolla, traditionally known as the place where medieval pilgrims washed and prepared themselves before making their final approach to Santiago.
Tonight we’ll enjoy one of our last evenings together on the Camino, staying in a charming family-run Pazo, when available, or a comfortable 4-star hotel.
Tomorrow is the day we have been walking toward.

WE DID IT!
This is the day.
Our final walk begins in Lavacolla and takes us toward Monte do Gozo — the Mount of Joy — traditionally the place where pilgrims catch their first glimpse of the towers of Santiago Cathedral.
From here, we make our final approach together into Santiago de Compostela. The countryside slowly gives way to city streets, but we keep walking — following the Camino markers toward the historic center until finally we arrive at the magnificent Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela.
For many pilgrims, walking into the cathedral square is surprisingly emotional. After days of walking, laughing, aching feet, shared meals and countless conversations, suddenly we are there.
Take the photos. Hug your friends. Celebrate your accomplishment. You walked the Camino!
Tonight, we’ll gather for a special Women for Adventure Farewell Dinner and toast an experience — and friendships — we won’t soon forget.

One Last Morning Together — Buen Camino!
Enjoy a leisurely breakfast before we meet a local guide and historian for a guided walking tour of Santiago de Compostela.
We’ll discover the history and stories behind this extraordinary pilgrimage city and visit its magnificent cathedral, the destination pilgrims have journeyed toward for more than a thousand years.
We’ll also assist with the Pilgrim Credential and Compostela process for those who meet the official requirements.
Then it is time to say goodbye to our Camino friends — although after sharing this experience together, we have a feeling they won’t feel like strangers anymore.
Buen Camino — and congratulations, pilgrim!
